growing global concern . Economic development
industrialization , and an increasing number of factories are
a key source of pollution today . The atmosphere has become
too clogged that it is causing the rapid depletion of the
ozone layer.

Jordan is fortunate to have such a rich architectural and
natural heritage . Protecting our heritage , however , should not
be limited to tourism investment or handicraft production
Environmental protection and conservation is equally
important.
In the past 70 years Jordanian officials have become
more aware of the need for environmental protection and
conservation . the first Forestry Law was legislated
in 1923 . However , it was only in 1966 with the establishment of
the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature ( RSCN) that
work in this area began in earnest. [/size][/size][/size]
